Wind power is the fastest growing source of electricity generation in the world. It is efficient, emissions-free and infinitely renewable. Investment in wind power is a key component of Suncor's climate change action plan. So we're using revenues from oil sands development to invest in wind power, providing significant business opportunities where we build.

Wind power is also one of the most economically recognized forms of green power. Suncor is a Canadian pioneer in wind power with four wind farms in operation and other projects in the planning stages. These four farms have a generating capacity of 147 megawatts and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 284,000 tonnes each year.

Suncor's long term goal is to develop a new power initiative every 12 to 18 months. We are looking into a number of potential wind farm locations to build on our wind energy portfolio.
